La Fogatta Italian Dining

Has someone killed Johny and taken his place? This can't be the right meet-place, because the people here have clothing on and don't appear to be buying sex. It's an upscale Italian restaurant in the Pueblo Sector of Colorado Springs, near the UCAS border.

The call goes out. Meet Johny at La Fogatta, PCC sector, Colorado Springs, 9pm. Field operations. Training for Hitomi, exercise for Kassandra. Tandem mission. Dress nice, says the note.

The call comes in. Fortunately, Ally is home napping after her shift, so she and Sally are left with Maya. Kass makes the trip in short order, driving one of the nicer cars out to the resturant, dressed nicely but not overdone. She hands off the keys to the valet and with a quick check of her hair and make-up, she heads into the resturant.

Hitomi isn't sure whether 'Dress Nice' for Johan is thighhighs and suspenders or blouse and skirt. Not that Hitomi would be caught dead in drab corp fashion, she swings by a fancy store to pick up an expensive skinny-jeans and silk-shirt combo from a well known brand store along the way. She even picks up a rather cool pair of sunglasses while there, and leaves her hair a shade oof faintly blue-tinted black to look presentable. When she arrives, she's wearing her new clothes as she wanders into the restaurant, pity she had to catch the bus, but she IS working on finding driving lessons.

«Auto-Judge[]» Hitomi (#8620) spends 1000 nuyen for "Tres Chic Clothing, Bought Legally with Real SIN".

Johnny is dressed in a nice silk suit, french-cut to his form and highlighting just how nicely he does clean up when he tries. He's currently seated with a beautiful woman, perhaps Latino, maybe some North African by her skintone. She's wearing a fantastic outfit of L-B-D with a sequined shawl of black and crimson. She has a small hand bag hanging from her chair and she seems to be chatting casually with Johny.

Handing her jacket off to the check girl, Kassandra will check with the maitre'd under the name given in the instructions (if given). She'll be led the the table in short order regardless, pausing at a respectful distance, "Good evening." The elven woman looks to the pair, clasping her handbag and waiting to be recognized.
The name provided is 'Danvers, party of 4'.

Hitomi makes her way towards the table, taking off and putting away the sunglasses as she comes through the door. Hitomi cleans up pretty nice, too, with her hair simply combed out straight and not some crazy color, and much of her makeup removed, she almost looks like an adult. Once she is lead over to Johny's table, she almost doesn't believe it's him, though his features are certainly unmistakable. She raises an eyebrow, but offers a little bow, next to Kassandra.

Wine glass in hand, Johnny rises up smoothly. "Ladies… Thank you for joining us."

THe woman rises as well, offering a pleasant, if hesitant smile to the other ladies. "Yes. Thank you. Thank you for coming. Mr. Danvers tells me you are quite talented. Her accent is unmistakably Hispanic, likely Southern California or northern Aztlan.

"Come ladies." Says Johnny, then nodding to the womans words. "Lets discuss business."

The waitstaff quietly section the area off.

Adjusting on the fly, Kassandra offers a quiet smile to "Mr. Danvers" and his guest, moving to take one of the offered seats. She doesn't watch the waitstaff section the area off; instead, her attention is on the pair as she settles in, handbag in her lap, hands on the table. "Mr. Danvers is kind to say so. How might we be of assistance today?"

Hitomi smiles at Johnny's companion, bowing her head to her, "It's my honor." She answers politely, before finally settling into her owns eat. Now she's sitting, she does seem a little awkward at the situation, fidgeting ever sos lightly. Poor girl can't help but feel people are staring at her, though it does abate somewhat as the area is sectioned off. She lets Kass do the talking.

The woman smiles then, her hands coming to rest up on top of the table, folded over each other. She wears a wedding ring on the proper finger, of respectable size and weight. "My name is Maria Espinosa, and I was an executive for Pyramid Productions, a Los Angeles based subsidiary of ORO Holdings, itself a subsidiary of Aztechnology. I left the company a few months back after a… falling out… with the upper management. The Foundation has provided me excellent work and benefits, but they have been unable to penetrate Aztlan to retrieve my child, Jose-Alvaro, from Tenochitlan. My husband was able to arrange his transport as far as San Diego, but the Coyote is asking for more money that we do not possess. Mr. Danvers assures me, that you ladies… ah…" She glances away, then back to Kassandra, addressing the elder. "Can intercede."

Johny sips his wine now, letting the woman do the talking. He's just the middle man.

Hitomi nods her head a little at the woman as she explains her situation, and she seems about ready to talk… until she is pointedly not spoken to. She doesn't quite manage to suppress a disappointed sigh as she simply waits for the 'grown ups' to discuss things.
"Ah, I see, that is a terrible situation to be in." Kassandra's tone in sympathetic as she nods, "Of course, we would be happy to intercede on your behalf." She considers, wetting her lips before asking any questions, "Have you already given Mr. Danvers the pertinant data? I only ask so that you do not have to repeat yourself. In these cases time is often of the essence."

Jonathan Danvers sits forward, offering a slight smile. "There is no more data beyond the name of her logistical 'service provider', the expected delivery date, and the number of the account to have the additional funds wired to."

Maria nods, glancing back to her drink. "It is not much, I am sorry. I cannot go to proper authorities because Aztlan would simply charge me with crimes, and the Pueblo Corporate Council, where I am now a citizen, is loath to sanction cross border adventurism."

Hitomi nods her head then, and this time, she does pipe up, "Of course, situations like this are inevitably sensitive." She comments, and then continues by saying, "We'll be happy to help however we can." She adds.

Kass shakes her head, "Not at all, that is a wealth of information." She smiles, a tiny hand gesture indicating Hitomi. "My associate here is able to do wonders with less information that this. I am certain that we will have good news for you very soon."

Jonathan Danvers lays a simple chip on the table. "Details. I will now be taking Ms. Espinosa… ah… Salsa Dancing." He says, as he rises up. "Expediency is a virtue. Coyotes are not known for their patience or willingness to hold on to merchandise."

"That's my -son-." The woman hisses at Johny…

"I know." Says he without comment on the rebuke. "Lets Go Maria, and let the professionals do what they -do-…"

Kassandra says nothing more, leaving the chip on the table. She will rise as Johny does, nodding to 'Maria.' "We'll be in touch."

Hitomi nods her head then, as she is praised by Kassandra, and she stands up herself as the others do. She doesn't seem to have anything else to say, either, as she prepares to leave.

Johny takes the woman's arm then, and guides her out of the restaurant. You two are left with menus and a private section of the restaurant. A server appears off to the side. Not close enough to over hear, but close enough to let you know he is there for -you-.

"Hungry?" Kass glances to the otaku, nodding at the chip, "If so, let's eat. If not, we need to dig into that information and get a move on. I'm sure Mr. Danvers is right that time is of the essence."

Kass nods, and with that will lead the other out and retrieve her car, heading towards someplace more private indeed.

Hitomi nods her head at kassandra then, and she says, "I think we should get right to the job at hand." She says to kassandra then, glancing at the chip. "but, before I begin, I'm going to need somewhere with a touch more privacy." She comments then.

It's Colorado springs. There are plenty of places that a car can pull over and a decker with a satellite dish can set herself up.

The pair will find an out of the way place and take in the sights with a clear view of the sky. Kass will amuse herself while Hitomi goes about her biz. She will scan a peek at the data before hand, to see if there is anything she can work on herself.

Matrix Fu

The data indicates Juan DeColvaz is the the Coyote, the account is in the Caribbean League, First Bank of Grenada (Account #XXXXXXXX) and the time he should arrive is tomorrow evening, 6pm, in Encinitas.

The file downloaded details the financial records of one Juan DeColvez. Several houses in Tijuana and a small apartment building in San Diego, a small fleet of trucks and vans, as well as personal expenses.

Once sufficiently far from the city line to get a clear view of the sky, Hitomi reaches into the pack she carries just about everywhere, and takes out of it the components for a portable satellite dish. She folds them out, and puts them on top of the car and lines the dish up to the approximate position of the NewsNet constellation, and then gets back inside. She plugs her pocket computer into one of her datajacks, and the satellite uplink into the other, and closes her eyes.

She beams her Icon up into newsNet then, onto the lattice of satellites that make up the world's premier newscasting service.

Her Icon, Optic now, traces the lines with her finger, before finding one leading down into the northern Aztlan district. She floats down, and, once there, she follows the latticework of information into the San Diego LTG.

She slips into the San Diego LRTG unnoticed by the security systems in place, and then makes her way to the shipping node. Until, it turns out that there is no Shipping node at all. It's simply a chunk of rented trix space. She does find one useful bit of information, though, a little trail of credits leading to Granada.

Back up one level to the RTG, hitomi then fades along towards the Granada RTG, and pushes her way through the SAN into that grid. She moves down towards, at last, the bank's PLTG, and then she slips her way through it;s defenses too.

Once inside the bank's main host, she seeks out what she needs- Account records. She glides through the hallways full of files, eventually coming across the one she needs- the one connected to that website in San Diego. She reaches into the shelf, and then quietly pockets the file, downloading it to her pocket computer.

Finally, task completed, Hitomi closes her eyes in the 'trix, and then dissembles her icon, causing it to melt away into binary code, and disappear on the winds of the matrix. Her real0life eyes open, then, and she sits up. She reaches to unplug herself fro the uplink, having been connected for only a minute or two. She produces her pocket computer, and then turns to Kassandra, "Alright. I have a lead, the shipping company website was bogus, but it directs funds to this guy." She offers the information she just dug up. "he has an apartment in San Diego, and ontop of that, a fleet of trucks. Sounds like our man, figure we should pay him a visit?"

Kass considers, looking over the information provided, "Well, we can do that, yes. Thing is, if he is a big time coyote, and this trail seems to indicate he is, he is probably not going to be very willing to smile and turn the boy over. We can talk to him and see, but I am not getting my hopes up." She digs out a phone, dialing a number from memory.

Calling Ocean.

Hitomi nods her head at Kassandra then, thinking tht over- she doesn't want to go up against an army after all. She puts her Satellite dish away while Kassandra is on the phone.

Ocean says: Look, baby. Uh, I never deal with those types, but if I knew a guy who knew a guy who did a thing, you wouldn't spread that it came from me. This DeColvez guy, he typically runs drugs and goods along with his cargo. North, he takes people trying to escape the Tyranny of the Aztlan, and then currency and other luxuries back in to Aztlan. He maintains a warehouse on each side of the border.. His Carlsbad warehouse is in the old Lego Land Theme Park. Kind of creepy."

"No one will hear anything from me, you can count on that." Silk hm, taking notes on the guy. "Thank you for all the help, and stay out of trouble."

Hanging up, Kass remarks, "So. He sounds like someone who might be agreeable to a trade, you know?" She grins at the otaku, "Let's get in contact with him and see what he's willing to do."

Hitomi nods her head at Kassandra, and she says, "As long as you don't plan on swapping me for him." She teases and then takes her seat in the car with everything packed up again. As Kassandra messes about on the phone, she re-reads through the information she herself has.

A meeting is set, and Kass will further set up travel plans for the pair, taking pains through her sources to make sure certain items are moved as well: gear they may need as well as certain bargaining chips. She will dress down for the meeting, not wanting to set the wrong message. "No, no plans to auction you off. At least not yet." She smirks as they get things ready. A short hop to the City of Angels and a quick dinner and the duo will head to the meeting.

To Los Angeles.

Los Angeles. It's really a pretty crappy town. The Pueblo Moved in, and luckly, this isn't fourth ed, or well, the city would be under-fucking-water. Santa Monica peir is one of those locations that exists as an island outside of the chaos of el Enferno…

Hitomi takes the journey better than her recent one on Marcus's aeroplane, taking inspiration from kassandra, she too has dressed down somewhat, swapping ehr skinny jeans for similar but less expensive ones, and her shirt for a T-Shirt and jacket. She keeps the sunglasses, though, as they are rather cool. Plus it's LA. Everyone has sunglasses. "I'll let you do the talking, you can practically see your confident aura, while I think I left mine somewhere in third grade."

An amusement park on stilts, it looks out over Los Angeles Harbor. It's survived so very much, but retains its dignity, its class, it's diving horses and its naked cowboys. Mmm. Dignity.

Kassandra will show for the meeting on the pier a few minutes early, dressed for the area. She gives Hitomi a confident smile, chuckling faintly, "You'll do fine. It's just a matter of making believe that you really feel that way." Girding herself, the elf sets herself in the right mindset, her expression blanking quickly. Game face time. Silk runs a diagnostic on her ware as she waits for the coyote and his team of bodyguards to show.

Kassandra spots two men with overlapping fields of fire, one on the carousel and one nearer the hot dog vender. Hitomi spots those two, but also the clown with the balloon animals that does not really seem to be -in- to his job. He does not interact with the children well and they are upset by his demeanor.

Juan DeColvez slides out of the crowd, wearing a white suit and pink button up, like he was something out of Miami Vice. He gestures to the women… "You. You know who I am. I. I know you you are. If. If you do not do honor by me, I will have you killed, here in public.. and I won't loose sleep over it. Si?"

"Si. I understand perfectly. I am here to do honourable business with you, nothing more." She smiles, a simple smile of business, "I come to you straightforward with no tricks, neh?" She keeps her hands in plain sight, her movements small and slow. "I thank you for taking time out of your business to see us. Hopefully something profitable can occur this evening."

Silk does this.

Hitomi nods her head to the man, and she says, "I understand." But otherwise keeps quiet, lettign silk do the talking. She keeps her eyes trained on that clown. And people wonder why clowns are creepy.

Before the meeting, Silk will have instructed Hitomi on six random meeting points if things go badly.

Juan nods, one hand pulling a toothpick from his jacket pocket. Probably a signal that things are okay so far. He places it in his mouth. "Now. Quinn.. he said you had business about some cargo. What about it?"

Silk shrugs slightly, her smile still all business. "I have a buyer interested in your cargo. They approached me about it and were interested in doing business, but I am afraid they are not well versed in the ways of the world, and so asked me to do the talking for them." She shrugs good-naturedly, continuing, "I know of you, and I thought it only right that I speak to you personally about this."

Juan nods. "You want the goods, its 60,000 up front and another 40 on delivery. Just like I told the original principle, who I suspect.." he rocks on his feet, one hand taking the toothpick from his lips.. "Is the one talking through you. I already told the puta that it was 100, no discussion, or we turn the boy back to the Jaguar Guard."

Hitomi remains silent, she was just here as backup, and while she couldn't say she wasn't nervous, she is doing a good job of keeping her cool. It's probably Kassandra's presence.

The smile never wavers as Silk nods, "Indeed. She is simply concerned, I think." The elven fixer waves a hand, "She worries, I think, unnecessarily. When can the boy be delivered?" She spreads her hands, "We can conclude the deal tonight and both have what we want."

The man raises an eyebrow. "What, just like that, she sends high powered Denver Names to Los Angeles, who say suddenly they pay for boy, and I am to believe this?" He asks, rolling the toothpick in his fingers. "Why do I not feel convinced you intend to pay honorable price for child, if woman could not afford honorable price, much less the price for one such as you? Your cut is what… 30 percent?"

Silk sees the eyebrow and raises another. "You ask me to treat you honourably and yet you question mine? I have your money, friend, right here." She indicates a pocket with a finger, not reaching for it. "You say you know me, you know of high powered Denver names. From what you know, would I approach you directly, *with honour*, and then go back on my word? Who would trust the word of Silk then." She shakes her head, "That isn't the way I do business."

«Auto-Judge[]» Hitomi (#8620) rolls Intelligence:

Juan rocks back on his feet, thinking that over. He cocks his head once to the side, and the man on the carousel approaches. "You will give my man the money you have with you. 60, the downpayment, yes?" Asks Juan. He knows Silk is a solid name, but also that she's retiring, Maybe she went soft. The other girl, he doesn't know… but money's money.

Juan's men don't seem to be acting strangely.

Silk holds up a hand, showing both sides. She reaches into the pocket of her business jacket with deft slowness, pinching the credstick with two fingers and showing it to Juan and his man. She will hand it over, "Sixty kay, the downpayment. The rest on safe delivery of the target." She doesn't look at the bodyguard/flunky, but instead keeps her eyes on Juan.

Hitomi never knew that actually paying was part of the plan, but she doesn't argue now- it's neither the time nor the place.

«OOC» Johny says, "+pay me 60k, I'll give it back if/when you recover it :)"
«Stats System» Kassandra (#9777) just gave you 60000 nuyen for "Downpayment on Target in run.".

Juan's man steps forward to take the sticks. Juan watches impassively. "Now, see…" Says Juan then… "If the bitch had just done this in the first place… I could have payed my extraction team. You know the way this goes… I got people to pay, trails to dust. Money makes the world go round."

Silk spreads her hands, nodding. "Exactly. She .. well, mothers get a little loco when their babies are involved." She smiles a bit at that, shaking her head. "But yes, things could have been much easy for all of us if she'd have done this up front. I apologize for the inconvience and extra work on your part."

Juan nods, reaching in to his jacket. "You bring the other fourty here, in 2 hours. We will trade. Money for the boy. Then you go home to Denver. I go home to my woman. We both have what we want."

Juan produces a card with an address on it.

"It will be done." Silk nods to the man, taking the card. "Two hours." She doesn't turn her back on the group, but instead collects Hitomi and disengages from the scene.

The scene disengages as well. It might be expected that Juan is furiously trying to figure out Silk's angle in all this.

Hitomi is just as lost as Juan is in the situation, but she doesn't speak a word of it till she and Kassandra are… wherever they're going to wait the 2 hours out.

Once clear of the area, Silk will pick up the car they got at the airport, "So. Two hours to kill, you want to get some coffee?"

Hitomi blinks a little, "I thought the idea was that we weren't paying." Shutomi murmers to Kassandra then, "I mean- You have something planned, right?"

As they drive around, Silk says, "I plan to pay for the kid and go home." She glances to the otaku and continues, "Our job is to retrieve the boy, right? What is the quickest, most economical way to do that?" She glides around in traffic, continuing, "Well, maybe not economical, but eh. Johny wants me to take you out for some lessons, so consider this Silk 101: Don't get engaged in a protracted fight in foreign terrain. If *anything* goes badly, we have nothing to fall back on. We are not at home. We don't know the ground, we don't own the ground. We're about as blind here as we can be. This is his home turf, neh?"

Silk sighs, shaking her head, "I know, it makes *zero* "shadow" sense," she says, making air quotes, "But as Juan just said: all he wants is to get paid for his hard work and to go home to get laid, right? He is worried right now, and is wondering where my strike team is. He is looking for shadows, for snipers, for mages in the woodwork. His imagination is doing more work for us than all the contacts and cred we could muster. All we want is the boy, right? All he wants is his money. I don't have any need or desire to grind this guy into the dirt, and I doubt he wants a war. So we pay, we go home."

Hitomi nods her head then, and she says, "I guess that makes sense. Jeeze, if I knew we were going to pay for him I would have jsut whipped us up some furged credsticks." She says then, and rubs the back of her neck a little. "Well, I guess doing a good deed is as important as getting paid, right?" She murmers then.

"Good deeds are always good pay." Silk glances to Hitomi, "Don't worry about it, it's just money, right?" She smiles and shrugs, "This guy isn't the devil, as far as I can tell. He's a businessman in a tight spot, and Mommy was broke. I'd rather have both of them on my side than neither, you know? I might need someone to sneak us across the border one day, and fucking him over doesn't get that done.

"Don't feel bad about it. It was a call I pulled out of my ass, and I'll foot the bill and likely the screaming rant Johny will lay on me. I have more than enough money to cover things. It's just money. There are things more important than that."

The meet: Two hours later, a Starbucks down in Hollywood. A very public place, on the walk of stars (Which is much bigger now, it should be noted, with 70+ more years of stars on it). The Starbucks is just off the Maria Mercurial Star, and as such, gets a lot of foot traffic. Juan is there, as are several of his men. They are sipping lattes and popping their collars.

No. Really.

ilk will arrive at the correct time, the same serene smile on her lips. She looks around, nodding casually to Juan and his men before moving to pick up a coffee with six sugars. She'll pay and move off towards the coyote, nodding to the man with respect. "Good evening."

Juan watches the woman. "I like you. You seem to deal straight. I like that. I like people who deal with honor. Hard to find in these times." He says, sipping his latte. "I tell you what." He says, noticing the lack of Hitomi… "You call off your ninja-woman…" He grunts… "And… Uh… I give you the boy now. No bloodshed, no fighting. You go home… I go home… we both get what we want… and you owe me a favor."

Silk raises an eyebrow, nodding once. She'll brush hair behind one pointed ear, "Done. No fighting, no bloodshed. And I would be honored to owe you a favor. As you say, it is hard to find someone who will deal honorably in these times." She smiles politely to the man and his people, the coffee held easily in her off hand.

He nods then, and one of the men steps forward. "This card. It will tell you where to go. Boy will be there. He is unharmed. HE likes Fruity-Ohs. I am not a monster. Just a businessman. My business, just happens to be transport."

Silk takes the card, offering, "May I?" If she is allowed, she'll produce a call-card, offering it to the same man, "This card will contact my priority lines. When you are ready, just call. I'll be happy to do what I can for you." She pauses, starting to leave, "It was a pleasure to do business with you." She smiles, nodding with respect to the man, and will step off towards the exit.

The woman is allowed her exit with no interuptions. The boy will be found as he is said to be found, which is to say watching cartoons in a decently appointed house. The Coyote business is a different one than it used to be. Far different. Now it's a luxury service, paid for by the wealthy.

Silk will collect her ninja decker and the boy, setting up transportation for all three back to Denver. Once in the air and uninterrupted, she'll make the call to Mr. Danvers and tell him they are on their way.

Johny picks up the phone a day and a half after giving Silk the job. He never tells people how to do the job, because they won't be able to do it as he would. He gives them objectives and lets them complete them as they see fit.

"Wulfson." Says the man, the voice transduced from his thoughts.

"Good evening. We have the package you were asking about, and are en route to bring it home." Silk speaks quietly, watching Hitomi interact with the boy.

"Splendid. Were there any complications?" Asks he, voice switching to an actual voice.

"Actually, no. The individual was quite courteous and was most willing to work with us on this endevour." Silk says, "I was able to instruct our young friend on a few of my more .. interesting ideas. I am not sure she understands, but that is for each student to work on."

"How so?" He asks, grunting as maybe he rolls out of bed. There is the sound of skin on skin as he scratches the back of his neck. "I.. What time is it?"

"1943 Mountain Standard. As for your first question, I took a non-standard approach to things, which I believe she wasn't expecting. She was expecting things to be a bit more like the trids."

He considers for a moment the various ways it could have gone non-standard. "…You set up his various crews to fight with each other, then sli… no… no… thats too much like the trids. A seduction seems out of place for you… and certainly hitomi…" He lights a cigarette, audible in the background. "No.. That leaves negotiation. What did you negotiate?"

"I negotiated the standing deal." Silk chuckles faintly, "It seemed to be not quite what he expected, either. But, in the end things worked out rather well from our standpoint."

"I… Well." He says for a moment, processing that. "We will take a loss, but I'll cover it." He says, annoyance just edged around his voice.

"No you won't. It was my call, and I'll cover it. The objective was what matters." Silk keeps her voice level, quiet, "As far as the principle knows, things happened and the target was aquired. The how doesn't matter; it never does."

"Thats not the way the team works, Kassandra. We go up together, we go down together. You made the best call for the situation, I am confidant… and you got the job done. Thats what I asked. I'll cover a fair portion of the loss."

"Buy the family something then. It isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things." Kassandra doesn't seem overly concerned about it, or about arguing about things that are already done. "But yes, things are done and we should be landing soon."

He sighs, the sound of a soda opening in the background. "Come home safe, Kassandra. I'll see you when you land." He doesn't sound dissapointed or upset, just resigned to the womans stubbornness.

"Aye aye." Silk ends the call.
